Intended UseΒΆ

Do not use the USB-Mux for any other use cases than the ones listed below:

  • The USB-Mux is intended to be used during the development of embedded devices with an USB 1.0, USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 Host or Device port or an USB OTG port.

  • The USB-Mux is intended to switch data- and power-supply-connections between the three USB ports present on the device.

  • The USB-Mux is intended to operate at a USB supply voltage of 4.5V - 5.5V.

Warning

The voltage on all USB ports must not be higher than 5.5V, otherwise the product may be damaged.

Make sure your prototypes respect these limits, especially when the voltage has not been checked finally or can be set by software to accomplish e.g. fast charging.

  • The USB-Mux is intended to be used with USB-Cables not longer than 1.8 m. Other configurations may lead to EMI or signal integrity issues.

Note

In most setups the USB-Mux creates an additional ground loop in the electrical environment. This may lead do unexpected or unpredictable results. Use an USB-isolator to power the USB-Mux in such cases.
